Establishing a safe workplace should be a priority for all employers. Mitigating workplace hazards and environmental exposures not only prevents worker illness and injuries but also ensures regulatory compliance.
Northampton’s Occupational Safety & Health AAS degree provides aspiring safety professionals a cost effective, convenient training option to immediately enter the workforce as an occupational safety & health specialist or to transfer into a four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor’s degree or certificate.
As a result of completing the program, students will have the skills to establish workplace health and safety policies and procedures and effectively communicate those procedures to employees and organizational stakeholders.
Features
NCC’s Occupational Safety and Health program provides the essential skills necessary to control hazardous and environmental exposures in the workplace and to prevent worker illness and injuries. Concept electives will prepare participants for either a general industry or construction workplace safety role. Convenient, 100% online format enables participants to complete the program as a full time student or part-time while working.

Career Potential
Prepares individuals for immediate employment as an occupational health and safety specialist or to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree or certificate from a four year college or university.
Outcomes
Graduates of the program will be able to:
1. Develop and implement occupational safety and health programs and procedures within organizations to reduce or eliminate workplace exposures to risks and hazards.
2. Conduct workplace inspections to identify and mitigate areas that are not in compliance with Federal or Commonwealth laws and regulations.
3. Demonstrate functionality as it relates to occupational safety and health.
4. Design and deliver occupational safety and health training programs.
5. Advise senior leadership on methods to achieve higher worker productivity with reduced expenses and litigation, reduction of absenteeism, and positive workforce morale through the implementation of cost-effective workplace safety programs.
