ESLL018 ESL Reading IIIA

Students with low-intermediate knowledge of English will improve their ability to read and understand a variety of reading passages. Students will prepare for reading in an academic environment by learning and applying strategies such as predicting, scanning, finding main ideas, developing context clues to build vocabulary, identifying cause and effect, and recognizing facts. Students complete 15 hours of using ESL software as part of the requirements for this course.

Prerequisite: ESLL 009; Pre or Co-requisite: ESLL 005 or ESLL 008; or English language competence as determined by the ESL department through testing and/or course work.
