Health Sciences, Associate in Applied-Science

Overview

This program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the healthcare system and career options, as well as, provide a solid foundation of knowledge, abilities and skills for health education or community health worker.  Students will learn how to use an evidence based approach to public health education and health awareness to improve the community health overall as this degree can foster a healthcare job.

Outcomes

Graduates of the program will be able to: 

  • Analyze and evaluate programs and educational opportunities in the healthcare arena
  • Demonstrate effective communication and apply adult teaching learning principles to healthcare education
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to healthcare related situations
  • Analyze data related to health assessment and research in the healthcare arena
  • Design an educational program including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for the community and be able to disseminate the information
