Athletics Health and Physical Education

Whether you want to compete on the intercollegiate level, just play for fun or simply stay in shape, Northampton Community College offers a wide variety of teams, activities and classes to choose from. Stop by the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center to see our outstanding facilities, including our state-of-the-art Fitness Center, three full-size basketball courts, and two dance studios. Locker room facilities are available on a daily basis.

Intercollegiate Athletics

Northampton Community College has a long and storied tradition of winning …

The Spartans, are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), which allows the intercollegiate teams to compete for Conference, Regional and National championships. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and meet NCJAA eligibility guidelines in order to compete in intercollegiate athletics. Northampton sponsors the following intercollegiate sports:

Recreation

Bethlehem Campus: Students, faculty and staff alike participate in the College’s comprehensive recreation program. Recreational activities are open to all currently enrolled students and provide a venue for exercise, competition and a great place to meet other students. Some of the activities currently offered include basketball, dodgeball, volleyball and soccer. Additional activities are added as needed. Monroe Campus: NCC-Monroe’s recreational sports program provides students and staff with competitive and fun experiences in a variety of activities. Recreational sports activities are open to all currently enrolled students and provide a venue for exercise and a great place to meet other students. Some of the sports activities currently offered include  volleyball, basketball, softball, and soccer. Additional sports and activities are added as needed. Physical Education

Physical Education courses at NCC are designed for students to develop and acquire the skill, techniques and knowledge that will enable them to understand and participate in a variety of lifetime activities. Course objectives are written so that students are graded based on their own achievements and improvement. Physical Education classes currently being offered can be found in the latest course catalog, however typical offerings include Fitness, Yoga, weight training and cardio conditioning.

Fitness Center

Bethlehem Campus: The Fitness Center includes cardiovascular equipment and selectorized weight training machines, as well as a comprehensive selection of free weights. Cardiovascular equipment includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent bicycles, upright bicycles, rowers and spinning bikes. Orientation to the facility and basic workout routines are provided by the NCC Fitness Center staff to help members familiarize themselves with particular equipment in the facility and maximize their workouts. The Fitness Center is free of charge to all currently enrolled students.

Monroe Campus: The Fitness Center at NCC-Monroe’s campus is available free of charge to current students, faculty and staff. Located in Pocono Hall, the Fitness Center offers cardiovascular and selected strength training equipment, as well as a comprehensive selection of free weights. Cardiovascular equipment includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, and recumbent bicycles.
